Robocop may not be all man, but it looks like he's still a Ford man.
At least that's what's in his motor pool.
Jalopnik.com has published spy photos of what it says is a new Ford Police Interceptor set to be used in the upcoming remake of the 1987 sci fi film.
To give the original movie a futuristic look, RoboCop and his colleagues used the Ford Taurus, which wasn't actually a police car back then, but featured the most cutting edge design of any sedan of the era. Flash forward to 2012 and the latest Taurus is now the basis for Ford's replacement for the out of production Crown Victoria in the police cruiser segment.
While the first Taurus was relatively low tech under the skin, the new one features all-wheel-drive and a powerful twin-turbocharged V6 engine, which makes it better suited to chasing bad guys through a crime-ridden Detroit facing economic collapse.
That's how it was depicted in the first film, any resemblance to the real world is purely coincidental.
