Pickup a secretary?
Aug 28th 2012, 17:56

The redesigned 2013 Ram 1500 offers several high-tech features never before seen on one of the company's trucks.

These include an 8-speed automatic transmission, shutters in the grille to improve aerodynamics, a stop/start system to help the engine save fuel and a built-in secretary that takes dictation.

Or are they called administrative assistants these days?

In either case, the electronic gal/guy Friday works through the Ram's Uconnect infotainment system, which tethers to a Bluetooth enabled Blackberry or Android-based smartphone and can not only read incoming text messages aloud but also let the driver respond with their voice.

Although it's not compatible with the iPhone, the feature also works with Twitter and Facebook messages. Ram will be the first U.S. automaker to offer this type of system when the new trucks hit showrooms later this year.

The trucks are also available with WiFi connectivity if your real-life assistant needs to get some work done while you're on the road.
