Your Friday just got better. It's National Margarita Day.
As the most popular tequila-based cocktail in America, it's no wonder the margarita got its own day on the calendar.
In its classic form, the margarita is made up of tequila, lime juice, Cointreau or triple sec. The concoction is then served in a chilled glass with salt around the rim. But the margarita flavor has seeped its way into everything from cakes to cookies and beyond.
It's not clear who invented the original margarita, but it's safe to say it has come a long way since the 1930's and 40's when someone tested out their brilliant idea. Today the varieties are endless.
We have complied some fun and creative margarita recipes to help get you started. Not a big drinker? Don't worry because margaritas aren't just for drinking anymore.
