Chris Holmes baked this cake to tell his bosses was quitting his job at U.K's Border Force.Stuart Jackson
This might be one of the sweetest resignation letters yet.
A man in Britain told his bosses at Stansted Airport that he was quitting his job by baking a huge 10 x 12 inch white cake with lettering spelling out the reason behind his decision.
The Guardian newspaper reports that Chris Holmes, 31, addressed his letter "To The Management" in impeccably piped lettering, saying: "Today is my 31st birthday, and having recently become a father I now realise how precious life is and how important it is to spend my time doing something that makes me, and other people, happy.
Holmes, who once worked under celebrity chefs Gordon Ramsey and Marcus Wareing before becoming an immigration official at the Border Force, U.K.'s version of U.S. Border Patrol, said he was resigning to focus on his cake business.
Known as Mr. Cake, Holmes has been building up his side business over the past two or three years. He told the Guardian cooked up his cake idea six months ago, when his wife was still pregnant.
"For that reason I hereby give notice of my resignation, in order that I may devote my time and energy to my family, and to my cake business which has grown steadily over the past few years," he wrote on the cake which was a spiced carrot cake with pecans and sultanas and coconut.
"I wish the organisation and my colleagues the best for the future and I remind you that, if you enjoy this cake, you can order more at www.mrcake.co.uk."
Holmes is reportedly getting inundated with telephone calls, although there are no orders to date for resignation letter cakes.
