150th anniversary of Henry Ford's birth celebrated Jul 29th 2013, 11:55 DEARBORN, Mich. – Ford Motor Co. founder Henry Ford — who was born 150 years ago this Tuesday — is being celebrated with a party at his suburban Detroit estate. State resolutions pronouncing Tuesday "Henry Ford Day" in Michigan will be presented to Ford family members, including current Ford Chairman Bill Ford. The Saturday party in Dearborn will also feature music, vintage automobiles and a farmers market to commemorate Henry Ford's interest in farming. Henry Ford was born in Dearborn on July 30, 1863. He built his first car in 1896 and founded Ford Motor seven years later. Ford revolutionized the industry in 1913, when he opened the first moving automobile assembly line to build the Model T. He also doubled wages to $5 per day, setting a new standard for the time. | |
