Road rage rising with heat?

Hot weather and holiday traffic are being blamed for a rise in reports of road rage incidents across Britain. Motoring organisations say that drivers' nerves appear to be fraying in the heat and in the long queues to the coast, The Sunday Times reports.

"It is worrying for motorists because we have seen a number of serious attacks recently," said Paul Watters of the AA. "The hot weather has made a difference. People get irritable and seem to be in more of a hurry."

Last week a man was killed in an apparent dispute over a parking space at an Asda supermarket in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire. Three days later, David Weaver, 27, was jailed for three years for using an imitation handgun to threaten a driver he thought was not letting him into a queue of traffic in Bridgend, Wales.
