Bison, halibut on state dinner menu
Mar 14th 2012, 18:45

The White House released the menu for the state dinner Wednesday honoring British Prime Minister David Cameron.

The event, themed "America's Backyard", will feature crisped halibut, American bison and winter vegetables grown in the White House kitchen garden.

Guests, which include Cameron and his wife, President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama, Sir Richard Branson and John Legend (who is scheduled to sing), will dine under a white tent set up on the South Lawn, decorated with planters and centerpieces to evoke nature and landscape gardens that are common in England.

To top off the meal, guests will be offered a steamed lemon pudding.  This traditional British dessert will be prepared with Idaho Huckleberry Sauce "to unite the British and American flavors," the White House said.

American wine will be paired with each course, but the menu did not specify which ones. The White House stopped releasing the names after one wine served at a state dinner last year -- a top-rated 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon from Washington state that originally sold for $115 a bottle  -- went for as much as $399 by the time of the dinner.

Here's the full menu:
