LoJack lists most-recovered stolen cars of 2011
Mar 19th 2012, 15:38

The Toyota Camry was the best-selling car in the United States in 2011, and also one of the hottest, so to speak.

According to data released by stolen vehicle recovery system specialist LoJack, the Camry topped the list of 2011 models recovered by the company, while the 2007 Camry was number one among cars less than five years old, ahead of the 2009 Camry at number four.

The Camry was also second overall to the Honda Accord among all model years, hardly a statistical surprise as they have been the top two passenger cars in sales for many years. Over 10,000 cars were recovered by LoJack in 2011, representing a recovery rate of 92 percent.

Rounding out the top five are the Honda Civic, Acura Integra and Toyota Corolla.
Although LoJack's statistics only cover cars equipped with its system, the findings reflect those of the National Insurance Crime Bureau, which had the Accord, Civic and Camry at the top of its most recent report.

The LoJack system costs $695 for two-years of coverage, with extended plans available.  The oldest car recovered in 2011 was a 1948 Chevrolet Fleetline, a top-seller in its day.
