NEW YORK – What's better than ice cream during a heat wave? How about ice cream delivered straight to your door?
For one day only, car service company Uber traded in its shiny black cars for trucks full of frozen treats in an effort to deliver ice cream on demand.
"Basically you open up the app, you push a button, and a car generally comes to get you in five minutes," said Josh Mohrer, NYC general manager for Uber. "Today, in addition to cars, an ice cream truck will come."
Hungry ice cream lovers across 33 countries ordered the Uber trucks Friday – the special only lasts a day – but you can download the Uber app and get speedy car service any day of the year.
"It's really just a fun thing to do," Mohrer said of the ice cream special. "It's a good way to get out of the office and see all of our customers."
