Survey finds what women and men drive
Apr 23rd 2012, 18:38

If men are from Mars and women from Venus then there are a lot of Ferraris on Mars.

A new survey from automotive shopping website TrueCar.com found that the brand with the highest percentage of male buyers last year was Ferrari, with over 92 percent of its cars sold in the United States going to men. Bentley, Maserati, Porsche and Jaguar rounded out the testosterone-tinged top 5.

Watch: The ultimate chick car

Women, on the other hand, preferred Minis, Nissans, Kias, Hondas and Mitsubishis, although they made up less than half of the customers of each of those brands.

As far as specific models are concerned, among those with more than 1,000 sales, the ladies liked the Volvo S40, Nissan Rogue and Volkswagen Eos most, while men predictably went for the Porsche 911, GMC Sierra and Ford F-150.

However, one vehicle that seems to be winning the battle of the sexes is the VWBeetle, which is shedding its predecessor's "chick car" image and attracting a more balanced audience. According to TrueCar, 45.4 percent of bug buyers last year were men, an increase of 5 percent, while Bloomberg recently reported that the male take rate on the all new 2012 Beetle is over 48 percent.

Apparently, if you build it correctly, they will come.

All of them.
