New York Times food critic Pete Wells' now infamously scathing review of Guy Fieri's Times Square restaurant was Saturday Night Live-bound from the get-go. Sadly, the Weekend Update segment featuring Bobby Moynihan's cackling, spiky-haired Fieri didn't make it to the live show, but the footage from the dress rehearsal did make its way to the Internet.
We know how Guy Fieri really feels about the review, which includes such questions as "Is that how you roll in Flavor Town?," but SNL's take is definitely worth a watch, even if you haven't read Wells' scathing review on Guy's American Kitchen & Bar.
In the skit, Weekend Update host Seth Meyers gives Moynihan's Fieri the review to read, which makes the "Diners, Drive-In and Dives" host impersonator feel "pretty half throttle."
"My restaurant's not in New York, Seth, it's in Times Square," he says. "Grouping me in with regular New York restaurants is like comparing apples and fat dirt."
Perhaps the best line? "If you come in expecting Le Cirque, then you're a Le Jerk."
Watch the skit and see for yourself.
