Jagaur to build successor to 'most beautiful car ever made'
Apr 5th 2012, 15:02

NEW YORK --  "The most beautiful car ever made" now has a successor, after Jaguar unveiled its long-awaited F-Type ahead of a 2013 release.

The two-seat sports car's imminent arrival was announced Wednesday at the New York International Auto Show -- 51 years after Jaguar's much-loved E-Type first hit the streets, and 12 years after the original F-Type concept was shown in Detroit, to much acclaim.

No less a motoring authority than Enzo Ferrari said the E-Type, which was manufactured between 1961 and 1975, was the world's most beautiful car. The new model may not share quite the same sex appeal but will certainly be a head-turner, according to The (London) Times.

The British luxury car brand patterned the all-aluminum F-Type after the C-X16 concept shown at last fall's Frankfurt Motor Show, The Wall Street Journal reported.

Jaguar's Adrian Hallmark said in a press release that the response to the C-X16 was "so positive, that we've accelerated our development of an all-new Jaguar sports car. That car will be called the Jaguar F-Type, and it will be unveiled in production form later this year."

The full model range, specifications and details are likely to be released at September's Paris Motor Show, Autoblog reported.

The model is expected to be built at Jaguar's Castle Bromwich factory in central England and could create thousands of jobs, according to the Times.
