Jaguar kills 200 mph hybrid supercar project Dec 11th 2012, 13:30 JAGUAR has pulled the plug on a £1million ($1.5 million) supercar — because of the recession, The Sun reports. The luxury car maker already had 100 potential buyers for its 200mph C-X75 hybrid — jointly developed with the Williams F1 racing team. But plans to build the vehicle, powered by a state of the art 1.6-liter turbocharged engine with an electric motor, have been scrapped. Jaguar's Adrian Hallmark said yesterday: "It is very disappointing and it was a hard decision — everyone was in love with the car. But we don't think it's the right thing to do in the current economic climate to build a £1million supercar." The C-X75 was the star of the 2010 Paris Motor Show and hailed as the motor to put Jaguar back into the supercar league. Five prototypes had already been built by a team of 30 specialists and were under-going testing. Two of them may be sold off at auction. The car could hit 0-60mph in 2.8 seconds and reach a top speed of over 200mph. Read more at The Sun
