Hennessey Performance has unveiled a new vehicle for the family that really likes to keep on trucking, the $149,500 VelociRaptor SUV.
Starting with a Ford F-150 SUV Raptor SuperCab high performance off-road pickup truck, Hennessey replaces the open bed with a fully finished passenger compartment built from a combination of custom body panels and the side windows and rear doors of the out of production Ford Excursion jumbo SUV. Five, seven and eight-passenger seating configurations are available.
Underneath the VelociRaptor SUV is all Raptor, which means it rides on some serious off-road kit. There's a suspension with over 11 inches of travel and triple-bypass Fox Racing Shox, rear locking differential, front Torsen differential and a 411 hp 6.2-liter V8.
Not enough power for you? For an extra thirteen grand or so Hennessey offers a 600 hp package complete with supercharger, intercooler and other modifications. A variety of additional performance and accessory upgrades are also available.
Concerned you might run into a 7.62 mm round or to on your way to the country club? Armoring is also on the options list, of course.
Hennessey is limiting production to just 30 units per year, although the price might take care of that for them. Even if that fits your budget, don't plan any trips to the top of El Capitan just yet.
The company hasn't fully vetted the VelociRaptor against the type of high speed, extreme off-roading the Raptor was designed for, but it shouldn't have much trouble reaching base camp, and with a 0-60 mph time of 5.9 seconds can get you to the other end of a drag strip faster than just about anything else this big.
