Al-Yamama advertises its Kentucky Fried Chicken delivery service on Facebook.Al-Yamama
Some people will do anything for Colonel Sander's secret recipe.
According to the Christian Science Monitor, a Palestinian business called Al-Yamama is delivering Kentucky Fried Chicken to Gaza residents with a hunkering for some finger-licking goodness via underground tunnels from Egypt.
They smuggle the fried chicken 35 miles through the network of tunnels that connect Gaza to Egypt meant for aid, such as medicine, cars, construction materials, weapons--and now fried chicken-- to bypass an Israeli blockade. The chicken costs about $30 (or triple the price) and takes about 3 hours to get there, but customers say it's worth it.
"It has been a dream, and this company has made my dream come true," customer Rafat Shororo told the Monitor.
Al-Yamama is advertising its KFC-delivery service on Facebook and has been doing stellar business.
Tunnel business has gone down after Israel relaxed its embargo, and the smugglers are happy to act as a delivery service because, as one smuggler, Abu Iyad, said: "the tunnel business is not like before, [and] things are going worse."
